Looking Back at the Impact We’ve Made Together

As I think back over last year, I’m reminded again that none of what we’ve accomplished would have been possible without you. Every warm meal, every safe bed, every step forward in recovery—your partnership has made the difference. Together, we’ve not only met urgent needs but created pathways for lasting change.

Lives Changed Through Compassion and Opportunity

Because of your generosity, we purchased Sparrow House, which will allow us to expand our women’s recovery program and nearly double our capacity for women seeking freedom from addiction. We also just opened The Grove, our new 42-room shelter for older adults facing housing insecurity—offering safety, dignity, and care for a growing need in our community. Its opening is a milestone for our city, providing a welcoming place where older adults can begin rebuilding their lives.

But the real story is always about the people—like Kathy, who found both community and purpose after months in shelter, and Emily, who rebuilt her life and discovered a calling to encourage others. Transformation happens when compassion meets opportunity, and your support has made that possible.

The Power of Simple Acts

Time and again, we’ve seen how small acts can spark hope. A smile at the door, a warm plate of food, a prayer offered, a conversation that says, “You matter”—these moments often leave the deepest mark. One man told me that when he first accessed our services years ago, what he remembered most wasn’t a program or policy—it was kindness. Your partnership made that kindness possible.

Thank You—and an Invitation

Your prayers, service, and generosity are changing lives in our city every day. You’re helping to build a safety net that catches people when they fall and walks with them as they rise.

The need around us remains great, and there’s still more we can do—together. I invite you to keep praying, serving, and giving so more people can experience the hope, healing, and restoration this work brings.

Thank you for helping create a community where hope is renewed, lives are rebuilt, and the love of Jesus is made visible every day.

Together,

Scott Gaglardi
Executive Director

Stories of Transformation

  • Scott first arrived at our shelter simply looking for a roof over his head. With support, he joined our Street Teams Program, gaining purpose and confidence through meaningful work.

He later transitioned to our employment program, found stability in our kitchen, and recently moved into our Interchange Supportive Housing. Your generosity made his journey possible.

  • Emily overcame immense challenges, including addiction and unstable housing.

She found community at Ruth & Naomi’s, engaged in programs that helped her heal, and discovered a passion for helping others.

She is now pursuing further education with the hope of returning to serve in Chilliwack.

  • From homelessness to stability, Kathy’s journey saw her move from a shelter in Victoria to our Foundations Shelter and later into Interchange Supportive Housing.

Now thriving, she actively gives back, saying, “This is my family, and I love it here.”

  • When the pandemic hit, Debbie became homeless and struggled to find stability. At Interchange, she found a safe place, but life threw another challenge her way—she lost her hearing entirely. With support and medical care, cochlear implants restored her hearing, reconnecting her to the world. Today, she has a stable home and renewed hope, showing the power of perseverance and community.
